The original Premium Edition is an archival cotton/polyester 70/30 mix canvas that provides excellent dimensional stability when combined with the bright white base tone, making this product an ideal canvas for printing general photographic work. The 2007 revision is now top coated with a new ultra thin inkjet receptor layer designed to show all the texture of the underlying canvas product .
This new coating maintains the optical impact and bright nature but combines these with a more flexible and robust surface and the ability to be printable with most eco-solvent inks.
Colour Profiling
The new coating while thinner is designed to accept similar colour profiles to previous GMS Premium Edition products most users will not have to change their profiles. Customers who do not have a RIP and are unable to alter their ink loading should be careful not to over ink the product which can cause blocked shadows in continuous tone areas.
Lamination
GMS Premium Edition 2007 Revision should be over laminated with GMS Aquathane-UV using an HVLP spray gun system for best results. The canvas surface has been designed for this product and together they give a bright clear result that does not crack at the edges, even at a full 180 degree bend. The combination can withstand temperatures above 50 degrees C for extended periods with very high "blocking" which means the canvas surface is unlikely to stick to itself or other materials.
The canvas/laminate combination remains flexible over time and does not need to be stretched immediately to avoid edge cracking when used over approved stretcher bars. The canvas can be rolled and posted to a customer.
GMS Premium Edition 2007 Revision will tolerate other GMS liquid laminates and many hot over laminates.
Product Types
GMS Premium Edition 2007 Revision will become available in all common sizes from 13 inch to 60 inch in width in rolls of 12.2 metre. The product is available by special pallet order of longer industrial lengths of 18 metres.
