Presented by Dr Les Walkling, this workshop is  a full five-day, all-inclusive experience designed for photographers. The Orpheus Research Station, run by James Cook University is a first-class teaching facility in a stunning tropical environment. Located on an island surrounded by coral reefs, it provides unique opportunities to snorkel, bushwalk and beach-comb – and take advantage of the photographic potential of this special area.

Orpheus Island Fine Art Photography workshops are accredited by the AIPP and have been rated as among the very best learning experiences in Australia. This year, AIPP Master of Photography, Darren Jew, will be lecturing alongside Les and sharing his expertise with participants. Darren is the author of the book AUSTRALIA – reef, rainforest, red heart; he exhibits around Australia and is an Ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund.

Each workshop includes lectures, demonstrations and presentations during the morning, backed up with hands-on photography after lunch and into the evening. The demonstrations will cover the latest equipment and involve sharing knowledge and materials to stimulate photographic creativity. A half-day boat trip to nearby Yank’s Jetty and Fantome Island is included in the program. Participants will also enjoy gourmet catering by internationally-renowned chefs, with evening meals under the stars by the beach.

To enter, simply purchase any Eizo LCD Monitor from an Eizo Oceania Creative Graphics dealer before close of business on 10 July, 2011. Complete the online entry form and you will go into the draw for the Orpheus Island Fine Art Photography workshop, which runs from 28 August to 2 September 2011. The winner will be notified on 13 July, 2011.

The prize will include the cost of the return airfare, overnight accommodation at the Seagulls Resort on 27 August and 2 September plus five nights at Orpheus Island. (All meals at Orpheus Island are included.)  Full details of the Orpheus Island Fine Art Photography workshop can be found at http://www.leswalkling.com/courses/orpheus-2011. In line with this prize draw, Eizo Oceania will be offering special pricing and promos at the 2011 PMA Imaging and Entertainment Expo, which opens to the public at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour on 25 and 26 June.  Eizo will be showcasing their new 27-inch monitors, the ColorEdge CG275W and the Flexscan SX2762W at the exhibition.

According to Matthew Bauer, MD of Eizo Oceania, with a price-tag approximately 20% below the predecessor model and boasting many new features, the CG275W is a hot pick. A genuine time-saver for busy photographers, its built-in colorimeter sensor and self-calibration system allow monitor calibration to be scheduled to take place automatically, without requiring the user's supervision.

Employing the same platform – but with simplified functionality – the SX2762W 27-inch monitor with EasyPIX calibration system brings hardware-based colour calibration to the premium Flexscan range for the first time. Both monitors support 10-bit simultaneous colour display for finer gradients and image detail, particularly when displaying monochrome images. The 27-inch models include a mini-display port for easy Mac connectivity.
