Judges verdicts in now for prints night of nights. Judges in the 24th National Print Awards have completed two days of intense judging, awarding Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the 32 categories.
Chairman of Judges, Rod Urquhart, who is CEO of CRC SmartPrint at Monash University, said this year, as in previous years, the judges found it hard to pick Gold medal winners in most categories, as the standard has increased again.
The stage is now set for the National Print Awards presentation dinner, which will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 25 during PrintEX07.
MCs for this years gala presentation will be TV personality Sandra Sully and impressionist Paul Martell. Raw Metal and five-piece musical ensemble Flipside will provide the entertainment.
All medal-winning entries will be on display in the foyer of the PrintEX 07 exhibition. Gold, Silver and Bronze medallists will be identified on the day following the presentation dinner.
National Print Awards chairman Scott Telfer said the staging of the 24th National Print Awards during PrintEX07 will be the highlight of the Australian printing calendar, as were the 22nd National Print Awards, which were held during PacPrint in 2005.
A new category -- Art Reproductions has been added to the 24th National Print Awards. As well, the Limited Editions category has been modified and there will only be one category for book printing this year.
Gold-medal winners are eligible for the Heidelberg Award for Excellence in Craft.
The 24th National Print Awards presentation dinner will be held at The Bayside Grand Hall, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Drive, Darling Harbour, Sydney on Friday, May 25.
