In the increasingly hotly contested area of narrow-web digital label presses, another industry-renowned pioneer of digital colour printing, is the latest to throw its hat into the ring, with the Labelexpo debut of the TX300, a narrow-web digital label press powered by Xeicon’s Titon toner technology.

The technology offers both composition compliance and migration technical compliance for food applications so Xeikon said it is designed for converters who need labels that are both tough in the supply chain and trustworthy for food.

Visitors to Labelexpo Europe next week (16th-19th September, Fira Barcelona Gran Via exhibition centre) will be able to see the premium results of the TX300, on coated and uncoated papers as well as polypropylene (PP) face-stocks, without the need to apply varnish.

Frank Jacobs, senior product manager Xeikon, says: “Titon will change label production, with printing companies now able to eliminate the, often cumbersome, varnishing step in their production workflow. The technology also enables converters to stay ahead of the curve on food safety and compliance, sustainability and brand expectations.”

Xeikon said early adopters who have transferred jobs from a UV inkjet-based press to the TX300 have reported that the prints are durable without varnish, that the smooth matt look is ‘elegant’, and that the quality on paper substrates is ‘outstanding’: ‘the TX300 delivers labels that are durable, scratch-, heat-, solvent-, and friction-resistant without extra coating steps’.

The TX300 has a proven performance speed of up to 30m/min and will be demonstrated live on the Xeikon stand 3E55/3G55 at Labelexpo Europe and feature as part of the show’s Label Trail, a six-booth journey that will show how the label ecosystem is evolving.
