At the latest Dscoop Edge global print industry user group event, HP introduced more new intelligent automation capabilities with the launch of HP Nio, a new chatbot that connects directly with HP PrintOS and allows customers to ask questions about their print operations, to receive real-time data, production insights, and on-demand knowledge.
HP Nio - 'AI will revolutionise the world of print as we know it'
With the event marking the 20th anniversary of Dscoop, it was significant that AI dominated the conversation. Haim Levit, SVP & Division President, HP Industrial Print, said: “For two decades, HP and the Dscoop Edge community have been driving the transformation of digital print, so it is fitting that this year we celebrate that legacy and embark on a new journey: one in which AI will revolutionise the world of print as we know it.”
HP Nio is a next generation print industry AI agent that provides real-time insights and predictive analytics to optimizeHaim Levit, SVP & Division President, HP Industrial Print press and production performance. It works by connecting directly with HP PrintOS, giving printers a single touchpoint for HP’s operational data tools like Print Beat and Knowledge Zone, meaning users simply need ask the chatbot a question, and it will provide detailed answers and suggestions. Next steps are for HP Nio to also integrate with other HP PrintOS apps like HP Site Flow to support workflow automation and suggest smart, actionable next steps towards workflow improvements.
The HP Nio follows quickly in the wake of other AI-enabled solutions first introduced at drupa for HP Indigo presses, including Automatic Alert Agent (AAA 2.0), Print Mode Preflight, and PQ Maestro. Noam Zilbershtain, Vice President and General Manager, HP Indigo, says: “HP Indigo’s vision of transforming the world to non-stop digital printing - unlocking infinite possibilities and extraordinary customer experiences - is fast becoming a reality at customer sites worldwide.”
“By leveraging the essential AI-based tools built into our presses, customers are simplifying operations and boosting efficiency. This is just the beginning: with every press we deploy, we’re shaping the future of digital printing. Ultimately, HP Nio will act as an intelligent co-creator, enhancing the PrintOS experience and helping automate the entire print workflow from start to finish.”
Further upgrades to HP’s digital print ecosystem announced at Dscoop include updates to HP Site Flow including the ability to integrate its ShipStation API with over 100 carriers, create custom production plans and integrate with Mintsoft for warehouse management.
HP’s Brand Centre, the software platform designed to help speed up customer on-boarding and improve order tracking, has also received upgrades intended to make it easier for print buyers to manage and share their brand’s product catalogue and cut onboarding to a few days.
HP has likewise launched a brand-new service, HP Business Centre, to help its customers better manage their finances while overseeing lifespan score, impressions performance and invoicing across their digital print portfolio, and a new CO2 emissions calculator for its Sustainability Amplifier Program.
All this, and the new AI-based technology, was on show at China Print earlier this month, where two new HP Indigo presses - the HP Indigo 120K HD and 18K HD - made their Asian debut. The HP Indigo 120K HD offers digital continuous operation through non-stop paper feeding, non-stop colour measurement and continuous stacking, at speeds of 6,000 sheets per hour. The AI-based technology enables ‘on the fly’ troubleshooting of image quality, as well as predictive press care and end-to-end line efficiencies o help reduce waste.
