Roland DG, as part of it’s continued commitment to the education industry and the training of apprentices has demonstrated it's support again by donating a VERSAcamm SP-540V large format digital print/cut machine to the Hunter TAFE signwriting department.

The three-in-one SP-540V can be used as a printer, printer/cutter or stand-alone vinyl cutter which allows users to handle a wide variety of jobs including complex applications. The machine can produce a variety of banners, signs and stickers.

Marcus Adler, Managing Director stated “Industry demands issue challenges to technological development and this in turn places demands on educational institutions to keep up by way of responses”.

“The addition of the Roland’s SP-540V Large Format Digital Printer to the signwriting section’s resources will ensure students are trained in the latest sign production techniques and are well equipped to meet workplace practices,” said  Linda Sharpe, Head Teacher Painting and Decorating, Signcraft Operations.

Ms Sharpe added "the future of the industry is digital, and Hunter TAFE has a range of courses to satisfy the needs of students and employers. They include: Customised short courses: training that is designed and or tailored to meet a client’s specific needs; and trade courses set to deliver the necessary training to achieve trade qualifications for apprentices".

Representatives from Roland DG were present at the unveiling of the printer as were Hunter and Central Coast sign companies including Opalescent Signs, Ryan Signs, Newcastle Sign Force, Sign Maid and Tubby Signs.
