“We’re always looking for quality assets and they were introduced to us through a broker,” Marcus Emery, group general manager, GJI Group, told Wide Format Online.  “We were looking to add a wide format company and they've been very successful with wide format and signage.” The deal was signed on April 1, 2019.

Colorcorp - the first printer in Queensland with an HP Scitex industrial press - will retain its existing staff and remain based at its head office in Northgate, nine kilometres north of Brisbane’s CBD.

“Nothing will really change at Colorcorp, “ said Emery. “They’ve been successful thus far so why change that? Colorcorp will continue in the same premises with the same staff and general manager Brad Wruck will continue to run the business.”

“Today’s announcement is strategically very important for Colorcorp,” said Brad Wruck, GM Colorcorp. “It brings both renewed investment and focus on the long-term sustainability and scalability of our services. By partnering with the GJI Group brands, our clients benefit from the collective expertise in the group, ensuring a focused investment through a customer lens.”

Colorcorp joins existing GJI brands that include digital print business Colourwise, Little Big Design and Customology.  The group now employs about 80 people across various companies.

“This addition to the GJI Group extends and enhances the collective brands capabilities with Colorcorp's complementary set of services,” said GJI Group’s CEO Mark James. “It brings many opportunities including personal career development and advancement for Colorcorp employees, alongside the ability for our brands to work with new customers and develop future growth opportunities.”

Emery said GJI was actively searching for further acquisitions.

“We are certainly looking at a number of opportunities as we speak. We’re looking at digital agencies, we’re talking to research companies and to out-of-home media. So, not just point-of-sale.

“We’re looking at companies outside of Brisbane, including down the eastern seaboard; we’re looking at New Zealand and at businesses in WA and South Australia.”
