More than 300 industry and academic leaders representing manufacturers including Fujifilm and Agfa, research institutes, print companies, suppliers, developers, engineers, chemists and brand owners are expected at the second US edition of The Inkjet Conference (TheIJC) that will showcase latest developments in inkjet technology.

The event at Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare from 22-23 May 2019 will include a focus on inkjet engineering, a review on fluid and ink components such as nano particles, conductive, aqueous and UV inks and offers an academic track open to all universities and non-commercial research institutes to present their work.

“We will hear about the latest printhead developments, about ink components and finished ink, lab equipment for measurement and analysis, curing and drying systems, software electronics and integration, vision systems for inspection and verification of digitally printed images,” says Steve Knight, co-founder of TheIJC. “As manufacturing industries from packaging through to 3D printing adopt inkjet, the requirements to understand the core technology become paramount to the successful implementation of this disruptive technology.

“We welcome all involved in inkjet engineering, chemistry and industrial printing applications for the second US edition - on May 22nd and 23rd at Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare. We aim to broaden the understanding of the wide range of topics that make up inkjet and our guidelines to exhibitors are to cover a technical topic to an audience of a different technical or scientific background.”

Registration for exhibitors and call for papers are currently open. All interested companies and research institutes should contact the organisers at info@esma.com

TheIJC, the world’s biggest inkjet event, has been developed by the European Specialist Printing Manufactures Association (ESMA) and Digital Direct Technologies in partnership with drupa, the major global exhibition for printing technologies. The first European edition was launched in 2014 and since then the conference has experienced continuous growth in both individual attendees and the number of companies who come to learn and network about the advances in industrial inkjet. The inaugural IJC USA was held last year.

Over 20 companies have already booked a presentation slot in Chicago and a stand in the conference networking arena, including: Adphos | Agfa | Allnex | Amazon Filters | ColorGATE | Crown Van Gelder | Digital Direct Technologies | Fujifilm Inkjet Technology | Global Graphics Software | Global Inkjet Systems | HAPA | ImageXpert | Integration Technology | Kao Collins | Marabu | Matsui | Meteor Inkjet | NTS Group | Prophotonix | Sun Chemical | Xaar.

The new GIS Head Management Board (HMB-FD-HV)

In one of more than 40 sessions, Debbie Thorp from Global Inkjet Systems will present “Image enhancement techniques.” Global Inkjet Systems (GIS) recently announced its new solution to drive a range of Fujifilm Dimatix printheads, including the latest high-performance Starfire SG600.

The new GIS Head Management Board (HMB-FD-HV) (pictured above) can drive up to 4 x Fujifilm Dimatix Starfire SG600 or 4 x Starfire SG1024 off each board. In addition, the HMB-FD-HV can be configured to drive large numbers of the Polaris, Sapphire, Emerald, Nova, Galaxy and S-Class printhead ranges from a single board.

Elsewhere, 3M’s senior technology specialist Amit Sengupta will present a session titled “Reducing bubble formation in inks: Membrane contactor design and process considerations.”

As digital inkjet technology continues to revolutionise the printing industry, controlling dissolved gases in inks has become a critical consideration to help reduce the risk of process interruption and quality. 3M Liqui-Cel SP Series Membrane Contactors provide a simple, in-line solution designed to reduce microbubble formation that could lead to nozzle misfires and defects.
