Visitors to the EFI stand at the Shanghai International AD & Sign Technology & Equipment Exhibition which opened today (11th March) experienced an advanced portfolio of inkjet imaging and workflow products designed to improve their productivity, versatility and efficiency, including new 2m and 5m VUTEk inkjet printers and a faster Fiery workflow for wide- and grand-format imaging.

“Growing demand for quality and productivity have influenced EFI to become even sharper in developing products that exceed expectations and deliver a stronger return on investment,” said Scott Schinlever, senior vice president and general manager, EFI Inkjet Solutions. “Our customers, in China and throughout the Asia Pacific region, tell us the versatility of UV and LED inkjet platforms are a major factor in their continued growth and success.  The systems we

End-to-end solutions for better wide- and grand-format imaging
EFI’s exhibit at the 11-14 March tradeshow feature new and upgraded technologies that signage and graphics companies can use to create integrated, end-to-end workflows that are faster, better and more profitable for the production of everything from banners, fleet wraps and out-of-home signage to high-end retail point-of-purchase display materials.
The new, 2m EFI VUTEk H2000 Pro printer making its regional debut at the show provides wide-format signage and graphics companies with a more-affordable entry point into mid-volume, premium production printing while giving them the option to add features – including white ink, clear varnish and roll-to-roll media handling – as they grow their business. The printer includes EFI’s 7-picolitre greyscale UltraDrop Technology, providing high apparent resolution and excellent text reproduction along with outstanding smoothness in shadows, gradients and transitions.
Users can run rigid, sheet and flexible media up to 51mm thick on the printer, and it offers standard multi-queue functionality for continuous production. Enhanced hybrid vacuum belt technology on the printer optimises substrate feeding.
EFI’s exhibit at the Shanghai AD & Sign exhibition also includes:
•    The award-winning flagship of the EFI VUTEk portfolio, the 3.2m, high-volume EFI VUTEk HS100 Pro UV inkjet press featuring automated material loading and unloading systems, along with a material edge guide system for printing corrugated board and other challenging substrates at press rated-speeds
•    EFI DirectSmile marketing automation and image personalisation technologies
•    Displays of unique, inkjet-printed thermoforming and cost-effective, narrow-web inkjet label converting applications created with EFI VUTEk GS Pro-TF and EFI Jetrion products
•    The EFI H1625 LED printer, a 1.65m, entry-level hybrid flatbed/roll product offering high-quality, eight-level greyscale printheads and superior white ink capabilities at an affordable price.
LED: The perfect tool for printing companies to cool off their competitors
With nearly 500 “cool cure” LED inkjet presses and printers installed at locations worldwide, EFI is leading the charge in the environmental advantages LED offers with virtually no VOC emissions and significantly reduced energy usage. EFI customers are gaining a competitive advantage from their ability to print on a much broader range of substrates, including corrugated board and thin, inexpensive films that cannot withstand the heat associated with other drying or curing methods.
In addition to the EFI Wide Format LED printer on display, EFI will showcase the 5m VUTEk GS5250LXr Pro roll-to-roll LED inkjet product, offering high throughput and high image quality with speeds up to 28 square metres per hour at a top resolution of 1,000 x720 dpi. Variable-drop 12-picoliter greyscale printheads on the device enhance the high-end imaging further with smooth gradations and higher apparent resolution.
This 5m roll-to-roll VUTEk printer, which is being demonstrated for the very first time, offers versatility as well. Its LED curing means it can print on heat-sensitive and specialty substrates to produce applications that command premium prices. Plus, the special SuperFlex Ink formulation on the printer from EFI and 3M gives users the ability to produce and install vehicle wraps, textile-based soft signage and outdoor applications requiring higher durability and flexibility without the cracking issues associated with UV inks.
All the EFI printers on display at the show will be operated using the latest version of EFI Fiery XF software, which offers dynamic smoothing for improved quality, new tiling options for reduced waste, an updated media catalogue and on-line help.
The software is loaded to the newest-version EFI Fiery proServers driving VUTEk printers at the show. A new FAST RIP (Fiery Accelerated System Technology) feature for the proServer processes complex vector data up to 7 times faster than its predecessor. The proServer also touts enhanced integration into the EFI Productivity Suite of web-to-print and MIS/ERP workflows.
