EFI has used Labelexpo to launch the full production model of its innovative Jetrion 4000 Series UV Inkjet System, which delivers full-colour labels in production volumes of flexo comparable quality at significantly lower costs than current digital colour presses. When compared with many competitors, who have yet to ship any production units of the systems they are showing at Labelexpo, Jetrion has clearly stolen a march on them and, now backed by the full power of EFI, is looking to strengthen its position with integrated workflow tools, an expanded European sales force and new offices in Brussels.

As the market moves towards more variation and shorter runs, label converters are finding it difficult to meet customer needs for localisation, regionalisation, language and colour changes, and short run promotions. As the first narrow web digital press that makes economic sense for run lengths up to 50,000 labels and beyond, the Jetrion 4000 UV Inkjet System and inks from EFI are already solving these problems for customers, having already been installed in July at True Label in the United States. At speeds from 15m/min (50 ft/min) up to 30.5m/min (100 ft/min), it's a perfect fit for secondary labels, industrial labels or flexible packaging and its greyscale printing capability will even match the image quality demands of many primary labels.

At Labelexpo, EFI will also be showing its popular Jetrion 3025 monochrome UV Inkjet System that enables customers to produce hybrid-printed labels, barcodes and direct mail pieces with variable data. Both systems utilise Jetrion's own developed and manufactured advanced UV ink technology to ensure exceptional performance, reliability, fast curing and low cost of ownership.

The EFI Jetrion 3025 will be mounted on a rewinder to demonstrate high quality, high speed bar coding, sequential numbering and other variable data printing on a web using fast cure UV inks on challenging label substrates.

Dirk Waes, the recently appointed Director of Jetrion Sales for Europe, sees Labelexpo as an ideal launch pad for Jetrion's sales drive into Europe, "To date, although the European operation has been relatively limited, the Jetrion product range has had a very strong presence in the US and has almost 200 installations worldwide. Now that Jetrion is part of EFI, it is able to benefit from both increased investment and EFI's significant European network, enabling us to grow our European team in order to really begin to make an impact on the label market. I'm very excited to be at this year's Labelexpo with our expanded team and am confident that the presence of the full production model of the Jetrion 4000 will be a great draw for visitors."

"Since the successful technology demonstration of the Jetrion 4000 at Labelexpo in Chicago last year," says Dr Kenneth Stack, VP and General Manager of Jetrion, "Jetrion has become a part of EFI and has continued to build on the credibility of our expertise in the labelling and packaging market. In addition to making our own improvements to the model of the Jetrion 4000 shown in Chicago - for example, we've added optional orange and green inks for an expanded colour gamut, and made some design changes to ensure precise colour registration - becoming a division of EFI has brought with it significant technology benefits. We have been able to add sophisticated controller software that provides advanced machine and printhead control, job management, label design and layout, variable data layout and control, real-time printer diagnostics and intelligent label restart, and we now also have access to and have integrated EFI's Fiery® XF, a key differentiator that delivers outstanding colour reproduction, greater production support and ease of use. Furthermore, every Jetrion 4000 will now include, at no extra cost, EFI's simplified yet powerful workflow, OneFlowto facilitate and automate the printing of digital files. And, for more complex workflow scenarios, the 4000 is now compatible with EskoArtwork's suite of prepress and pre-production software tools."

Visitors to Booth 6H60 at Labelexpo can view EFI's Jetrion range as well as the EFI Fiery XF RIP which, in conjunction with the Jetrion 4000 Series, provides a powerful production solution to handle the high volume and tight turnaround times of industrial applications.

Also on the booth will be EFI's market-leading proofing solution, Colorproof XF, configured specifically for the flexo market, with options including Spot Colour and Dot Creator. EFI will also be showcasing its award winning web-to-print solution, Digital StoreFront designed to deliver a world-class, print-centric e-commerce solution for print service providers.
