Fujifilm’s growing footprint in the wide format signage and display sector received a major boost at June’s FESPA expo in London with the signing of an order for the world’s second commercial Inca Onset Q40i flatbed UV press by Brisbane’s Civic Media. The machine has now been delivered and installation was completed this week.

Civic Media is already using a Fujifilm Acuity Advance HS flatbed UV, a 5 metre Uvistar UV roll-to-roll machine printing building and construction area wraps, shade cloth, banner mesh and billboards and a recently installed Acuity LED 1600.

The Inca Onset Q40i, launched at FESPA, takes Civic Media’s printable bed size up to 3140mm x 1600mm at a stunning resolution of 1200dpi, courtesy of the new 9 picolitre ink droplet size from the new generation Fujifilm Dimatix QS10 printheads. Throughput varies according to the number of head passes and can reach 305 square metres per hour when the autoloader is deployed. The six-colour UV cured inkset delivers results that can withstand two years outdoor exposure, unlaminated, with fade and water resistance.
Adam Middleton, Civic Media Managing Director says: “The image quality from the Onset Q40i is sensational for such a high productivity machine. It has sensors and automation throughout that reduce downtime and make life much easier for the operators, including set up files for repeat jobs. This is our fourth machine from Fujifilm so we know that the after-sales service and support will be top-notch. The Onset Q40i will move Civic to a whole new level of sign and display services for our customers.”
Steven Howland, Digital Business Development Manager, Graphic Systems for Fujifilm is delighted with Civic Media’s decision: “The relationship we have built up with Adam and his team in Brisbane via the Acuity Advance HS and Uvistar installations is one we value highly. To be entrusted again with a major investment decision is a great honour for us and, in particular, that this is the first Inca Onset Q40i for Australia and only the second site in the world. Our portfolio of wide format graphic equipment continues to grow, with a consistent focus on quality and productivity. We began as a photographic company, so image quality is everything to us. I congratulate Civic Media on its choice and look forward with great anticipation to seeing more and more offset-quality work passing through the Onset Q40i.”
