Bokay Group in Perth has seized the opportunity to become the first company in Western Australia to purchase the top of the range HP Scitex FB7600 Industrial Printer, a move that Managing Director Bob Meade says will considerably boost the company’s capabilities in the digital print market and deliver opportunities for significant growth.

“The HP Scitex FB7600 positions us at the pinnacle of digital signage printing and will enable us to go head to head with the big boys on the east coast. We are very excited about the opportunities for expanding our business that this printer presents,” he says.

Bokay Group’s HP Scitex FB7600 “has all the bells and whistles including a multi-feed table,” enabling the company to push through a high volume of work. Its speed, robust build and print quality are impressive says Bob who estimates the printer will increase the company’s turnover by 20% in the first year and up to 40% overall.

With the impending installation –the machine will be up and running in February - Bob has his eye on major national contracts. “We have started negotiations with multi-national companies. And we have already won a contract to supply point of sale and other retail signage for a leading global consumer brand that has pre-qualified us as a preferred supplier based on the installation of the HP Scitex FB7600,” he says.

The HP Scitex FB7600 will enable Bokay Group to competitively produce work for the east coast says Bob due to its speed and the low freight costs of transporting print from Perth. “It may be expensive to get items sent to Perth, but it is very cost effective to ship goods from here to the east coast as trucking companies are looking to fill their back loads. This gives us a competitive edge and enables us to go after the east coast overflow. This printer allows us to tap into markets we couldn’t access previously with our existing equipment and is a tremendous complement to our existing kit”. Bokay Group also operates an HP Scitex FB6100 and an HP Scitex XP2750.

In preparation for the printer’s installation, Bokay Group has appointed a new production manager and Bob is in the process of recruiting additional staff in order to expand the company’s finishing department at its Bayswater facility. Currently Bokay Group, which is a family owned and operated business, employs 22 people. Bob’s wife Kay and their four children are also involved in the business.

Bokay Group has been in operation since 1984. Prior to the digital print revolution the company was the largest screenprinter in Western Australia, and Bob says with this new machine the company will move from being viewed as a “small digital print business to a genuine contender at the top end of the retail signage market”.
