Canon Australia, an industry leader in colour print production and graphic arts, recently sent 8 of its technical and sales staff to a customised Chromaticity colour management training course to keep them a head of the game in the colour management arena.
For Canon's Digital Production Solutions Group the recent launch of new digital colour printing technology - Canon ImagePRESS C1– signifies Canon's entrance into the high-end, high-quality colour, professional digital press market. Canon recognises that in order to fully develop in the professional colour arena, their staff need to be competent and increase their skills and knowledge of Advanced Colour Management.
“We approached Chromaticity with our needs and they proposed a customised course suited to our needs,” Said Paul Fennell, Training Consultant, Canon. “Chromaticity are unparalleled in the colour industry, the course has benefited sales and technical staff. It has given them a greater confidence and improved their skills in the colour critical market. It has been an invaluable experience for us, increasing our efficiency and understanding.”
The customised two day intensive course was directed by colour specialist David Crowther, of Chromaticity Australia and covered the fundamentals of Colour Management and focused in particular on Laser Toner devices.
Delivered as a blend of ‘hands on’ work, discussions and presentations, they focused on their niche: Printer colour management, inside ICC profiles, an overview of profiling the press and the importance of viewing conditions.
Using 2 laser toner devices, including the Canon iRC5180 instead of the usual inkjet focus, David Crowther wrote a personalised training programme to Canon’s specifications. “We developed a fully flexible and personalised service for Canon. Everyone’s needs are different and while I run two regular successful generic courses, we also deliver a lot of customised training programmes.” Commented Crowther. “ We have the resources, skills and expertise to be flexible. That’s what our business is about – personalisation.”
Attendees received their own copy of ColorShop X, colour and profile analysis tool software, and a certificate of achievement for completing the course.
