Mimaki launched the new UJF-3042FX UV desktop printer, seen for the first time in the world at the Johannesburg Sign Africa show.
Representatives from Mimaki Japan joined their exclusive South African distributor, Graphic Supply Warehouse at the show to make this exciting announcement in support of the international launch.

The first model of the UJF-3042 was launched for the first time in 2010 with much success, as the first affordable UV entry level machine of it’s kind.

UJF-3042The new printer has improved capabilities and can now be used with three different types of ink. This new machine is aimed at companies wishing to produce high quality output on materials up to A3 in size (300 x 420mm) with precise and vivid images onto uncoated substrates.

The new nozzle recovery function eliminates head blockages and reduces idle time, improving productivity even more. The UV LED curing is a cost-effective feature that is very low on energy consumption and enables printing onto a wide variety of uncoated media. The LED UV curing technology generates a small amount of heat so materials that are heat sensitive can be printed on without fear of the media deforming.

The printer can be used with new low cost flexible LF-140 ink, which is stretchable up to 140% - ideal for membrane switch and bending applications. It is also compatible with LH100 UV ink and LF200 flexible UV ink which can be stretched up to 200%. Perfect for forming and bending jobs, the printer is an affordable, flexible solution.

Quick set-up and fast printing for immediate delivery of short-runs means that this machine is the answer for screen printers who want to go digital. Badges, cards, packaging, labels, stickers and display products be created in minutes. The printer is also ideal for industrial applications such as nameplates, electronic cases, building signage, membrane switches and control panels, amongst others.

Capable of outputting process and white ink at up to 1,440 x 1,200dpi and printing with a variable dot, the printer accommodates uncoated materials up to 50mm thick.

Glass, metal, wood, plastic and acrylic can all be printed to, and with high speed printing of around four minutes for an A3 imprint, including white, it’s an impressively quick solution. The inherent nature of a UV print forms a raised finish, so Braille and textured effects can also be produced on small signs and packaging mockups.

The inclusion of white ink means coloured, transparent and metallic substrates can be printed to with the white as an over or under printed feature, either as a pad or in perfect registration.
