Biomedia is expected to be the next big thing within the wide format print industry in the UK, says the manufacturer.

Biomedia is available in a range of products to suit most, if not all wide format printing needs from BioBanner, a replacement for traditional PVC used in roller banners and pop up exhibition stands through to BioRigid, a rigid print substrate, an earth friendly replacement for Foamex.

BiomediaBiomedia has passed rigorous testing and is compliant with various international tests. The Biomedia substrate will biodegrade to dust in under five years in a micro-organism present environment. This means that in landfill conditions, a Biomedia printed product will have returned to the earth leaving very little trace it was ever there within two to five years, unlike PVC which would have remained intact or broken into smaller pieces and become harmful to wildlife. Alternatively Biomedia can be recycled where many traditional substrates cannot.

The great thing about Biomedia is that it is comparative to, if not better in some instances than current print substrates available to printers. Biomedia's dead white product is one of the purest white substrates available today and ideal for use with roller banners and pop up stands used by many companies.

Biomedia Sales Director Mark Sanderson said “Biomedia is a fantastic product capable of revolutionising the wide format print industry. The biggest hurdle we have is changing the thoughts of those that believe recycled or biodegradable products are inferior to what they use currently. This simply isn't true, Biomedia will not biodegrade until placed within landfill conditions and therefore is comparable to any product available on the market today. It can be used both indoors and outdoors and being UV stable it will not be affected by the sun. Price wise, our product is comparable to those already being used so the decision to go green is a very simple one for those who want to make the change.”
