VFX, in the inner Sydney suburb of Leichhardt, has recently installed its second HP Indigo, a new HP Indigo 3550, and the latest model in the HP Scitex Latex Inks range, the HP Scitex LX850.
The company is one of the largest on-demand digital print businesses in NSW. VFX has established a solid clientele in the Real Estate collateral and signage market in its home state as well as Queensland.

Two years ago VFX took its next step into small format digital printing installing an HP Indigo 3500 digital press to complement its large format signage work and to grow its client portfolio by expanding its range of services.

General Manager, Bill Apostolidis said the HP Indigo technology has been invaluable to the company and enabled it to meets its growth targets. The installation of the second machine, the new HP Indigo 3550, is a direct result of increased demand.
“We produce the full gamut of print requirements for our Real Estate customers from office stationery through to brochures, leaflets and outdoor signage. The HP Indigo technology delivers on reliability, quality of print, and consistency of colour, time and again,” said Bill.

He continued, “We have worked with other digital presses in the past, but the HP Indigo, in my opinion, is ahead of its competitors. With our previous digital press we weren’t able to achieve consistency in solid colours, which became a major issue for us. The HP Indigo supplied the answer.”

The second HP Indigo digital press, the new HP Indigo 3550, has slipped in seamlessly into the workflow, said Bill. “From the day this machine was installed we saw the immediate benefits of having two presses that operate on the same platform. There are no issues with moving jobs from one press to the other because we consistently get great colour coverage and the profiles are identical. This has removed downtime completely and that is a major advantage from our end”.

VFX has been in business for nearly 20 years. In addition to its Real Estate clients the company also produces a volume of work for other print companies as well as corporate customers and ad agencies. “We produce everything from business cards to billboards,” explained Bill.

Whereas the HP Indigo 3550 has been installed in the company’s Leichhardt headquarters, VFX will operate the HP Scitex LX850 from its soon to be opened production facility in Queensland. Currently VFX operates a sales and installation office in that state.
“We have been working in the Queensland market for sometime. There are real opportunities for growth there and we already produce a volume of work for customers in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. We anticipate the creation of a production facility will speed that growth,” said Bill.

The company specifically chose the HP Latex inks technology platform because of its green pedigree. “We are conscious of our environmental footprint, as are our customers. Being able to offer a more environmentally friendly solution, and at the same time improve the working environment for our staff, is a great opportunity,” he concluded.
