The regional office of Adobe and GASAA (Graphic Arts Services Association of Australia) have been working closely since the recent announcement in the USA of a direct link in Acrobat 8.1 to FedEx Kinko stores in North America, to clarify the local implications and to express regional concerns about the development.

“GASAA was the first industry group to contact us in Australia and through its’ efforts we were able to confirm that the special arrangements with FedEx Kinko are confined to the North American market. We advised GASAA immediately that there are no plans to roll-out the service in the region. GASAA was also very clear in voicing its serious concerns on behalf of the industry”, said Mark Cokes, Pacific Marketing Manager, Adobe Systems.

GASAA, Executive Officer, Garry Knespal said of his association’s approach to the issue “this has rightly upset a lot of people, but from day one we wanted to get to the facts of the matter, understand the regional implications and to give Adobe in Australia an opportunity to explain and hopefully help rectify the situation in the USA.”

"Adobe will continue it's direct dialogue with GASAA and the industry to convey regional issues to head office and keep association members informed of any further developments in the USA" added Mark Cokes.
