Omnigraphics wraps an unusual bus for NZ Lotteries.

NZ Lotteries commissioned Mango (PR and experiential agency within DDB Group New Zealand) to come up with a way to celebrate the new Instant Kiwi tickets (better prizes and more of them).

What emerged from the brains at Mango was what you see here - a very, very large bus completely wrapped in print! The Instant Kiwi Scratchy Bus Road Trip gives Kiwis the chance to change their day in an instant by literally scratching off one of the 10,000 scratch cards covering the bus.

Anyone who scratches the bus will win an instant prize of either cash (up to $10,000!), or Instant Kiwi tickets. The experience connects the public with the Instant Kiwi brand in an unforgettable way, showcasing the potential power of experiential campaigns.

The bus is touring New Zealand over 14 days and is claimed to be a world first experiential concept.

DDB approached Omnigraphics to undertake this exciting project - with 14 years experience of wrapping all kinds of vehicles ranging from the largest trucks to the smallest cars, we were perfectly placed to print and apply exactly this kind of thing. We printed the design on a Roland Soljet ProIII XJ-640, the substrate was a specialised self-adhesive from Mactac (JT5829) and then matt laminated with another Mactac product (LF3998) ready for install.

The printing and laminating took 2-3 days, and the install took about the same. It wouldn't normally take that long, but we had to wrap the bus twice! The first wrap essentially covered the bus in the logo's, colour and prizes - the second wrap was to cover all of those prizes up with a scratchable material. The guys at Impressions International had the perfect solution and supplied us with A3 sized scratch panels (quite a lot of them) with matching coloured, scratchable self-adhesive. These were then painstakingly applied to ensure they covered each and every scratchy completely and evenly.

Dave McCarthy, Business Development Manager at Omnigraphics said, "I've been with Omnigraphics for 3 months now and it seems like every day we are involved in the most diverse and creative projects imaginable, but just when you think it can't get much more extreme, along comes a bloody great bus with over 20,000 scratch cards on it and we covered the smaller ticket prizes over several times throughout the tour to ensure that over 60,000x prizes were won in total. It's a good reflection of the creativity that is coming out of the agencies at the moment, and it is extremely rewarding to be a part of turning those concepts in to a reality".
