Two print media were shown for the first time in Australia by Asphalt Art and Continental Grafix, Australian group of companies.

The Australian operation only commenced earlier this year under the guidance of Tom and Peter Mathews. Both parent companies are co-owned by the one Austrian principal with manufacturing facilities in Germany and America.

`Asphalt Art` – drive over tough media applied to roads and Continental Grafix `Panarama` internal mount one-way view applied to windows, stopped printers in their tracks at VIIE this September in Sydney. Tom Matthews, MD, said that at first we had to drag people to our stand because the innovative characteristics of our products were challenging perceptions. Printers had unreliable experiences with applying print to asphalt, and vandalism with external see through window signage.  It was exciting to experience the turnaround from `no, I`ve seen that`, to, ` show me that again`.
Asphalt Art is the first print media designed specifically for asphalt and concrete. The science behind the product’s ability to stick to asphalt, even in ultra wet conditions, is its aluminium foil base and patented aggressive adhesive. Another innovation is the elimination of an over laminate making this the only `one pass` print product in its category. It has an integral textured polyurethane coating that is CSIRO non slip rated.

Asphalt Art comes 1220mm wide x 15m and 25m rolls. For high traffic areas it is suitable for up to 3 month campaigns, longer for low traffic areas. Suitable for UV, Solvent, Eco Solvent and Latex printers.

Panarama is the first internal mount one-way view applied to windows on display at the show and was described as a real game changer. Being internal mount, `Panarama` eliminates the major gripe from end users of one way vision which is vandalism.  It is repositionable and re-useable- and this changes the ROI stats significantly. Panarama is a polyester non adhesive c-thru film and is fixed to the glass using an optically clear differential tape from the US.

Continental Grafix Panarama comes 1370mm wide X 25m and 50m rolls with clear liner. Multiple widths are easily butt jointed with this stable polyester film without the need for tape. Panarama is highly heat and UV resistant. Not effective inside heavy tinted glass. Suitable for UV, Solvent and Eco Solvent printers.

Below are photos of Panarama being used in a 7-Eleven store. This large decal is in two parts with a vertical join in the middle. The polyester sits so flat on the glass that it can be butt joined without tape along the centre join or edges.
