Gerber Scientific Products will demonstrate the new high resolution GerberCAT UV wide format printer October 13-15 at the SGIA Expo 2010 in Las Vegas.

In addition, they will demonstrate the M Turbo flatbed cutting system which works with both the GerberCAT UV and other industry leading printers to create a precise, fast print-to-cut solution. Visitors to Gerber’s booth at SGIA Expo 2010 will have the opportunity to see these two machines work together and independently to produce output that will increase productivity and show how to create new sales opportunities for customers.

Gerber_CatShow attendees will also see new materials and new applications and ideas for maximizing their use of the Gerber EDGE FX thermal transfer printer. New functionality in Gerber’s OMEGA 4.0 software will also be showcased, providing users with significant opportunities to improve productivity and enhance output.

The GerberCAT UV is the newest high resolution model of Gerber’s popular wide format cationic UV flatbed printer family. The GerberCAT UV utilizes the breakthrough GerberCAT cationic UV ink technology for unmatched ink flexibility and adhesion, and the GerberCAT UV’s higher resolution allows owners to expand their ability to produce point of purchase signs and many other profitable jobs. GerberCAT UV user Jack Codron of FASTSIGNS in Orlando, Florida talks about the benefits of the GerberCAT UV, “It’s opened up the opportunity to increase sales and taken a load off my production person—the GerberCAT UV is like his assistant. We used to do mostly small jobs, but now we frequently do multiple jobs of two hundred or more double-sided corrugated plastic signs for builders and other businesses, and that makes us more competitive with wholesalers. The resolution is good for outdoor signs and the GerberCAT UV can also do higher quality ‘in-your-face’ photos also, so I can work two sides of the spectrum.”

Codron is also optimistic about his ability to break into the larger volume side of the sign market because of the quality of the GerberCAT UV’s ink adhesion, “Another Orlando owner did numerous signs for a builder on corrugated plastic, and a couple months later the ink was falling off. I compare that to the signs I printed eighteen months ago for a builder and they are still good to go—the ink is not flaking off, it is enduring.”

The GerberCAT UV works hand-in-hand with the high-powered M Turbo cutting system to provide a print-to-cut solution that enhances the user’s precision and control, allowing for faster, higher quality results. The M Turbo Cutting System employs a powerful 1kw router that routs aluminum up to 0.080” and acrylic and wood up to 0.75”. Working together with the GerberCAT UV and other leading flat bed printers, the M Series can be purchased as a complete turnkey system for one reasonable price that includes everything needed to begin production.

The Gerber EDGE uses heat and pressure to infuse durable resin pigments onto more than 30 substrates, providing a wide range of lucrative sign making possibilities. EDGE owner Fred Weiss of Allied Computer Graphics notes, “I love the versatility of my EDGE. We can print on clear, we can print metallic and we can offer spot colors that are usually provided only with screen printing, and we offer these things at a better price. I love the EDGE because I don’t have to deal with solvents or drying times and I don’t have to deal with color management.

Gerber Scientific Products’ demonstrations at SGIA will focus on practical applications for sign shops of all sizes and creative ideas that will help weather industry changes and challenges.
