Anitech, a company with a proud history dating back more than 100 years in Australia, has long worked under the catch-phrase, ‘Making visions reality’.

Now, in the lead up to the Visual Impact Image Expo (VIIE) in Sydney in September, the company is set to recognise leaders in the large format graphic print industry – people who have helped ‘make visions reality’ in both their commercial and personal lives – by staging a nation-wide competition to find the Anitech Industry Legend 2010.

The competition, the first in what the company hopes will become an annual event, was launched today by Anitech General Manager Barry Grant, who said he hoped it would provide ‘long overdue recognition’ to some of the great people involved in print in Australia.

“In our dealings with businesses through the course of our day to day sales and service operations, we often come across people who are truly inspirational, both in the way they run their businesses and in the things they do for the industry and in the wider community,” Grant explains.

“Very often, these people go about their business totally without fanfare, but we believe that initiative, dedication, hard work and outstanding personal qualities are always worth celebrating...and we realised that, until now, there has been no formal way for the industry to recognise these outstanding contributors.

“The Anitech Industry Legend has been designed to recognise the contribution of individuals to their own businesses, the large format industry and business community, and to society, whether that be through charity work, volunteering or in any other way,” he explained.

Anitech is asking the industry to nominate outstanding individuals who they believe would be worthy of such recognition, with the winner to be selected by an independent judging panel, currently being assembled for the task.

Three finalists will be flown to Sydney for the VIIE exhibition at Darling Harbour in September, where the inaugural Anitech Industry Legend will be announced.
“We’re confident that there are many people who could justifiably be nominated as ‘Industry Legends’ ,” says Grant, “in fact, we expect the greatest problem for our judges will be in selecting the final winner from what we anticipate will be a very high quality field.

“However, we are looking forward to helping recognise and celebrate the truly great people of our industry – the people who truly help ‘make visions reality’.”
