At the recent ISA Signexpo in Orlando USA, IPEX (UK) in May and  FESPA in June,  Screen is embarking on a major wide-format push at all events..

The history of Dainippon Screen (Screen) is tied in with many advances made in modern printing. The Kyoto,Japan-based company started by manufacturing glass etched screens used in early halftone image reproduction and became a world-renowned manufacturer of electronic colour separation scanners, page composition systems, digital workflow software, imagesetters and computer-to-plate hardware.

Ask anyone who has owned Screen equipment what they think of it and the answer is invariably, ‘incredibly reliable.’ Perhaps this is why Screen dominates over 40% of the world computer-to-plate setter market by making equipment for plate suppliers, as well as under its own brand.

Few in the wide format industry know about Screen’s three printer offerings. There is also the new Equiosnet automated workflow software that can bring multiple production environments onto one ’command centre.’ Screen also owns Cambridge,UK-based Inca Digital Printers, which operates autonomously.

The flagship of Screen’s wide-format fleet is the Truepress Jet 2500UV, as its name implies, a 2500mm width UV flatbed and roll printer. What sets it apart is its minute detail due to variable droplet sizes and 1500dpi resolution. Also unique is Screen’s colour management and original Screening algorithms, learned from years in the offset printing world. The UV inks are very flexible to resist cracking and a white ink option is available.

Indeed, the latest printer to install a Truepress Jet 2500UV, Ed Garvey of the Garvey Group in Illinois, said: “We needed digital output that closely resembled the quality of our litho output. The very high image resolution and output quality of the Truepress match the colour between litho printing and digital printing."

At up to 67.5 m2 per hour in draft mode, Truepress Jet 2500UV is also highly productive and can be driven by Equiosnet workflow, which unites all forms of output from CTP, digital web and sheet-fed presses and wide format.

What other UV flatbed can match Screen’s 2400 x 2400 dpi potential? The Truepress Jet650UV is a specialised industrial printer aimed at markets where normal Screen process printing might be used, Car dashboards, decals, membrane switches, polycarbonate laminated cards, membership cards, short-run packaging – these are just some of the applications for this niche machine which offers microscopic front-to-back registration on sheets up to 600mm x 650mm.

Truepress Jet1600UV-F
Screen’s third wide format offering is a thoroughbred UV flatbed machine that can handle media up to 500m in sizes up to 1694mm x 3194mm. Its fine 1200 x 1200dpi resolution can render text as small as 3pt and the white ink option extends media choices.

All of Screen’s wide format offerings are backed by years of experience in colour management and detailed image reproduction.
