Digi Coat is a new line of coatings specifically for the sublimation transfer and digital decoration market.

Digi Coat line includes four core products that allow you to coat a wide range of substrates to accept sublimation transfer inks. Each product has been specially engineered to provide a complete solution to specific challenges.

With Digi Coat substrate coatings, you can now:
+ Print on untreated substrates
+ Print on dark or black substrates
+ Print on glass
+ Extend the UV light fastness of your printed product.

DigiCoat Clear Sublimation Coating
In order to transfer an image to any product or surface using sublimation ink, that product or surface must be “sublimation receptive”.
This is not a problem when using specialty sublimation substrates. But natural and untreated surfaces like wood, metal, ceramic, leather, stone, glass and other items pose a real challenge to the digital decorator. To accept a sublimation transfer, these products must be treated with a polymer coating that when cured allows the sublimation inks to transfer onto the product.
Digi Coat Clear was created for just this challenge. Digi Coat Clear is a simple-to-use, clear base coating that allows you to create your own range of unique imprintable sublimation consumables.

Digi Coat Opaque White Base Coating
Digital decorators know that sublimation inks do not print white. In order for transferred images to appear vibrant, the substrate must be white or as close to white as possible to add opacity to the transfer so that the image stands out.
Unfortunately, many potential substrates that would make excellent decorated products are black or gray. For example, a piece of slate might make a lovely decorated award or photo gift, but without the proper coatings the transferred image would be very poor and commercially unacceptable.
In order to prepare a dark surface for sublimation imprinting, the item must first receive a White Base layer before application of Digi Coat Clear sublimation coating. The white layer will give opacity to the image. However, since heat is used in the transfer process, the white base coat needs to be able to withstand 200 degree heat without peeling or turning yellow.
Digi Coat White has been specially fabricated to work with Digi Coat Clear. It is simple to apply, may be applied to thousands of substrate materials, and will not peel or discolor under heat.

Digi Coat Translucent White Coating
Decorating glass products like tiles or cutting boards with sublimation inks can produce stunning images. However, since sublimated images must be applied to the back of the glass, unless the transfer is top coated with a finish coat the image will appear washed out and faded.
Digi Coat Translucent White is the solution. Digi Coat Translucent White is a specially developed coating that allows for the sublimation image to transfer straight through and to fix itself in the clear coating below and resulting in a vibrant image. No more washed out images on glass!

Digi Coat UV Protection Coating
A traditional problem with sublimation printing has been the issue of fading and loss of color vibrancy due to exposure to UV (UltraViolet) light. Sublimation inks are made from dyes instead of pigments, and are prone to fade faster. This has generally limited the use of digitally decorated substrates in commercial design and architectural décor.
Digi Coat UV Protect is the first product designed for use in the sublimation transfer market to protect images from ultraviolet light fade. Digi Coat UV Protect contains two types of UV inhibitors which both absorb and deflect UV light, giving the maximum possible protection to sublimation inks. In addition, Digi Coat UV Protect is also designed to be non-sublimatable, giving permanence to your sublimated image never before possible.
While no product can ever completely eliminate color fading due to the effects of ultraviolet light, Digi Coat UV Protect has had extensive comparison testing against uncoated sublimated tiles and the results provide a substantial improvement.
Digi Coat UV Protect is designed to work in conjunction with the Digi Coat line of coatings and is a simple to apply 1 part air curing coating.

Digi Coat Adhesion Promoter
Digi Coat pre-treatment is a specially formulated compound that has a high affinity for glass, ceramic and polished metals, which enables it to form robust physical bonds with such surfaces. It is also engineered to react chemically with the special range of Digi Coat products, hence providing a strong adhesive link between coating and surface.
Properties
The use of Digi Coat pre-treatment on glass, ceramic and polished metal surfaces prior to coating, improves the overall durability, and chemical and water resistance of the applied Digi Coat coatings. Failure to use the pre-treatment can result in de-lamination of the applied coating when exposed to wet conditions, especially on glass, glazed ceramic and polished metal surfaces.

Power Digital will be exhibiting Digi Coat amonst the rest of their product range at the Gold Coast VIIE show next month on stand B2
