MGI Digital Graphic Technology and Axode have announced a strategic partnership agreement.

Of interest to small format screen printers is the news that the partnership agreement provides for MGI to integrate Axode vision systems on MGI’s Meteor DP60 Pro 4-colour multi-substrate digital presses.

The combined system is designed to ensure the integrity of secure variable data print jobs, and will maintain the Meteor DP60 Pro’s high quality while guaranteeing zero content default.

The Axode system can be used to accompany production of a variety of secure documents, including cards (pre-paid, membership, smart, ID, etc.), labels, stickers, and many other applications.

The Meteor DP60 Pro can print on a wide range of paper and plastic substrates, including CS1/CS2, Bristol, bond, art/textured papers, envelopes, PVC, polycarbonate, Teslin, PET, polypropylene, vinyl/static cling, and certain specialized substrates such as magnetic material and canvas/buckram.

It also has the widest cut sheet size range of any digital press, from 4 x 6” (100 x 150 mm) up to 13 x 47” (330 x 1194 mm) and in thicknesses from 70 to 350 gsm and 100 up to 400 microns (4 to 16 mil).

The Meteor DP60 Pro produces prints at 2400 dpi at 200 lpi resolutions and has full variable data capabilities.

“Our partnership with Axode will allow MGI to provide our customers a proven method to ensure the integrity of their variable print jobs,” said Michael Abergel, Executive Vice President for MGI USA. “Clients worldwide are using the Meteor DP60 Pro to produce a variety of secure applications such as government ID cards, pre-paid cards, RFID tracking labels and financial documents and the Axode system will ensure that their data is consistently valid and reliable.”

“Today, it is necessary to secure processes of paper documents and plastic cards manufacturing and personalization in order to avoid variable data or print quality errors. Our partnership with MGI on their Meteor DP60 Pro digital presses will provide customers integrated camera control solutions combining both companies’ technical know-how and experience”, said Nicolas Vendryes, Axode President. “Indeed, solutions available on MGI’s Meteor DP60 Pro will range from simple control of variable data (customer numbers, barcodes, 2D…) to full colour data and image control on a wide range of applications including ID cards.”
