An arresting and emotional image by award winning Australian photographer Marcus Bell has won three major print awards at the Australian Institute of Professional Photography’s 2009 Australian Professional Photography Awards.

Printed by an Epson Stylus Pro 9900 using Epson’s 10 colour UltraChrome High Dynamic Range Ink on Epson’s UltraSmooth Fine Art Paper, the print won the AIPP Highest Scoring Print Award, [the AIPP Colour Print Award, and the Wedding Open Award.

“We profiled the paper with an X-rite spectrophotometer and output the image at 16 bit increasing the quality of the final print. The increase in quality, especially the detail in the dark black tonal range, from our previous Epson 9800 printer was immediately obvious.

“I knew the Epson 9900 and 10 colour HDR ink would produce a fantastic result and I couldn’t be more pleased with the print and the awards it has won.”

Craig Heckenberg, Business Unit Manager, Business Solutions Division, Epson Australia, said Marcus’s talent combined with Epson’s new generation Stylus Pro 9900 printer, advanced 10 colour UltraChrome HDR ink and UltraSmooth Fine Art Paper has created a remarkable and clearly outstanding print.

“Marcus has won many awards before and continues to create outstanding work.  With this print he demonstrates not only his mastery of photography but also the unrivalled Epson technology that stands behind every great print,” Craig said.
