Visitors to the Epson stand at this week’s International Robot Exhibition 2025 in Tokyo will see a company that is looking beyond automation and reaching into what Epson calls ‘the trajectory of challenges that continue to evolve along with society’.

6 axis robotEpson's award-winning line-up of 6-Axis Robots enable users to work in the tightest of spaces

50 years Epson brandStaying true to the over-arching theme of the Tokyo Big Sight event (3rd-6th December) - Accelerating the Future with Robotics and Technology – Epson’s focus is both on showcasing manufacturing innovations, enabled through robotics, as well as on its ongoing development of support technologies utilising AI, presenting possibilities for future manufacturing.

Looking at the printing industry, Epson is showcasing a compact, high-precision S800 inkjet head combined with a 6-axis robot for direct-to-shape printing on three-dimensional objects. The solution enables printing on complex shapes, contributing to process rationalisation and reduced environmental impact.

Through a collaboration with US-based 3DEO, Epson is also showcasing high-precision metal additive manufacturing, using 3DEO's proprietary Intelligent Layering technology. This next-generation solution is ideal for low-volume, high-mix production and enables greater design freedom for complex parts.

Looking at other industry sectors, Epson is also using the event to showcase an advanced paint colour inspection system (using spectral vision) for the automotive industry; a new LS50 SCARA robot with a 50kg payload to enable fast and stable EV battery transport; and even a nail polish vending machine (The Huey) for the retail sector, which extracts colours from a user's favourite smartphone image.

Underpinning all of this, and reflective of a theme that will be infused in very corner of this exhibition is the continued development of support functions utilising generative AI, which Epson labels under its Epson RC+ banner.
