Mimaki has launched a new pigment ink - AP50 - to use with its Tiger600-1800TS roll-to-roll printer, bringing its Tiger technology to the sign and graphics industry.

According to Arjen Evertse, Director of Sales for Mimaki Europe, recent trends in out-of-home advertising have shown a growing demand for regional customisation and smaller-scale campaigns, so he describes bringing the Tiger600-1800TS to the sign and graphics industry as ‘a game-changer’. “As printing volumes per design decrease, traditional offset printing becomes increasingly unfeasible – opening up new opportunities for digital print.”.

The AP50 pigment ink is designed to use with the Tiger inkjet printer and has been developed for fast-turnaround graphics to deliver vivid colour reproduction and sharp, smudge-resistant images due to its drying properties.
Other features include enhanced red saturation for high quality visibility and impact, which makes it ideal for campaign visuals, retail displays, and food advertising.
Additionally, the AP50 has been designed for digital coated papers, similar to that used in latex and solvent printing, which allows for easy integration into existing poster production workflows.
With the AP50 ink, the Tiger600-1800TS printer can deliver production speed for any design of up to 220sqm/hr and allows customers to produce high-volume advertising and display graphics. It has 10kg CMYK ink tanks, an integrated mini-jumbo feeding system that can support rolls up to 300kg, and has a three-roller media transport system to prevent wrinkling.
The AP50 ink has been submitted for Greenguard Gold certification for sustainability, and the Tiger600-1800TS with AP50 ink is expected to be commercially available early next year.
