The Australian signage community is mourning the loss of industry pioneer Tony Coniglio, founder of Conect Enterprises, who passed away on August 6th at the age of 70. His son, Paul Coniglio, states: “Dad left an enduring legacy across hundreds, if not thousands, of sign industry professionals.”

“My dad helped signwriters transition from hand painted signage to computer cut graphics and then wide format print. He was loved by staff, customers, and suppliers alike.”
Tony, together with his wife Pam, established Conect Enterprises in 1985 which they built to become one of the nation’s most respected distributors, expanding from a single Victorian storefront to a multi-state distributor, employing more than 50 staff and supplying customers nationwide. Conect was sold to Ball & Doggett in 2022.
Tony Coniglio RIPUnder Tony’s leadership as Managing Director for 35 years, Conect became known for its expansive product range and grew to become the second largest global distributor for Metamark and Siser Heat Transfer Vinyls. The company was recognised as the Roland Victorian Dealer of the Year more than ten times, a testament to Tony’s dedication to excellence.
Tony was also a passionate supporter of Harness Racing Victoria, enjoying a 55-year involvement as a fan, owner, and breeder. His life was celebrated at a memorial service last week, attended by nearly 150 friends, colleagues, and family members.
Paul adds: “On behalf of our family, we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received. It hasn’t been easy, but your messages and calls have meant the world.”
