Melbourne-based large-format print specialist Vivad opened its doors to celebrate its 25th anniversary in style, welcoming industry peers, partners, suppliers and friends for an evening of tours, technology, games and entertainment. Ewen Donaldson, owner and managing director of the Campbellfield-based business, which has recently almost doubled in size to a 7,500sqm footprint, said: “This new facility is a blank canvas…a great space to grow and innovate.”
Part of the entertainment for the event was the 'VivTrack Web-to-Print Games’, which saw some of the industry’s top print athletes participate in an interactive live showcase of the company’s Web-to-Print system
Donaldson thanked the people around him ‘and the culture they create’ before extending his appreciation to Vivad’s suppliers, competitors (‘for pushing us all to set the bar higher’), and the wider industry.
He also touched on Vivad’s continued commitment towards sourcing more sustainable alternatives, citing ‘a move away from solvent inks in favour of low VOC water-based inks, reduced energy through installing 100 kilowatts of solar and more energy efficient lighting and significant progress in driving recycling and upcycling wherever possible, from polyester core flute, toEwen Donaldson, Vivad owner and managing director, speaking at the event cardboard and aluminium’.
The 25th anniversary event started with a guided Open House tour of Vivad’s impressive new production facility, appropriately sponsored by Durst given that 5 of their machines dominated the facility’s footprint (including a P5 Tex iSub dye sublimation printer and a P5 350 HS hybrid printer).
After the tour, it was a case of ‘on with the 'VivTrack Web-to-Print Games’, which saw some of the industry’s top print athletes participate in an interactive live showcase of the company’s Web-to-Print system, racing jobs from online order through production and across the finish line. The games were hosted live by comedian Sam McCool, whose quick wit and humour entertained the crowd throughout the evening.
Festivities then continued into the night with live music, supported by a DJ and a headliner comedy set from McCool.
