Live demos of the new HP Indigo 6+ digital press will take place at LabelExpo Europe on stands E25 and D21 in Hall 5 of Fira Gran Via in Barcelona (September 16th to 19th). It is the new AI+ smarts of the SmartControl system, like HP PrintOS and HP Nio that largely give the press the + factor over the current 6k model.

Jordan Fischer, Plant Manager, Summit Labels, says: “As one of the first beta customers of the HP Indigo 6K+, we are more than satisfied with the reliability of the press and have been impressed with its scaling and heightened productivity. With the new SmartControlSystem, we are able to maximize our productivity by delivering up to 15% increased uptime, meaning Summit Labels can produce more jobs per shift while minimizing waste.”
The label and packaging market continues to evolve, requiring multiple SKUs, faster time-to-market, and greater application diversity. The HP Indigo 6K+ Digital Press, has been specifically designed to meet these growing demands, adding a suite of intelligent automation and precision tools, advanced diagnostics and embedded AI, which increases the press self-monitoring capability to a point that HP Indigo claims can ‘drive up to 15% more uptime’.
A suite of automation and AI-powered tools powers the HP Indigo 6K+ with optimized production efficiency through solutions such as the HP PrintOS Suite, Automatic Alert Agent 2.0 (AAA 2.0), HP Spot Master, and HP Nio. The latest innovations empower operators with real time insights, shorter setup, intuitive troubleshooting, and automated colour management. Collectively, these developments reduce labour time and help customers better navigate and manage more complex onboarding processes.
Noam Zilbershtain, VP & General Manager, HP Indigo, says: “the HP Indigo 6+ is ideal for high-mix job baskets. It enables converters to win more business as they seamlessly switch between jobs, without sacrificing time or quality. From pressure-sensitive labels to shrink sleeves, in-mold labels, wrap-arounds, laminated tubes, flexible packaging, and folding carton, the press unlocks new opportunities in virtually any label vertical.”
The new press features seven ink stations and spot colours, claiming to cover up to 97% of the colour gamut and to offer the industry’s broadest range of specialty inks, including Silver ElectroInk, Invisible and Fade-Resistant inks, as well as a comprehensive White ink portfolio.
From a Sustainability benefit angle, the shorter job setup and execution of the HP indigo 6K+ reduces media-related CO₂ emissions per job ‘by up to 20%’ and cuts media waste. It can also use a wider range of substrates including more recycled and renewable materials.
With over 2,300 units of the HP Indigo 6 already operational globally, HP Indigo is confident the new 6+ model and its SmartControl System will attract a lot of attention at LabelExpo in September.
Zilbershtain adds: “This press is designed to help converters confidently say ‘yes’ to any label job today and in the future."
