On Friday July 25th, one of Australia’s premier large format digital and banner printing companies, is hosting an exclusive ‘Open House’ event, followed by a party to celebrate 25 successful years in business.
Ewen Donaldson, owner and managing director of the (Campbellfield) Melbourne-based print specialist says: “It’s important to acknowledge our 25 years of success, but this event is as much about looking forwards to the next 25 years as it is about thanking our customers, suppliers and team, for their assistance in getting us here.”
Donaldson’s words are ready recognition of a company that has never stood still. Less than a decade ago the company virtually tripled its footprint, moving into a 3,500sq m factory and latterly (in 2022) adding a 500sq m Mezzanine, to further expand its fabric sewing department and contain its print room in a temperature-controlled environment.
Earlier this year, the company officially doubled in size again, through the purchase of the premises next door, now boasting a 7,500sq m footprint and a busy team of over 50 employees to manage its burgeoning fabric printing business and growing demand for flatbed printing.
Correlated investment in equipment includes purchase of a Hellios Mattic laser cutter back in 2023, installation of a Canon Colorado M5 UV Gel printer and a second Durst Rhotex ISub 3.2m wide Dye Sublimation printer in 2024 and a new Durst P5320HS Flatbed digital printer earlier this year.
“We’re keen for our customers to come and see the new facility and celebrate our 25th anniversary with the team,” adds Donaldson. ‘We’re really keen to show them our Vivtrack powerhouse production system too and we’ve come up with a fun and engaging way to showcase the scale and scope of this with them through the inaugural Vivad Web-to-Print games.”
With the Open House itself sponsored by Durst, this will be followed by the Vivad Web-To-Print Games, showcasing Vivad’s innovative Vivtrack web-to-print production system through a series of fun challenges, designed to see a selection of print athletes compete to race jobs from online order, through production and on to the finish line. These include the:
- Dye sublimation Steeplechase (sponsored by Carr Group);
- Vinyl Banner Velodrome (sponsored by Spicers);
- Sav Print and Mount shot putt (sponsored by Currie Group); and
- Corflute Challenge (sponsored by Corex).
Donaldson says: “We were keen to make sure that those who come along leave with a true understanding of what our facility is capable of and just how easy and streamlined ordering and managing a print job can be with the right technology.”
Kicking off at 4pm, the festivities begin with the Open House and Vivtrack Web-to-Print Games, which are being hosted live by renowned comedian Sam McCool. Donaldson adds: “Sam is well known for his sharp wit, so we’re looking forward to having him MC the event machine-side to engage the crowd and get them laughing well into the evening.”
Melbourne’s six-piece Superband will headline the night with live music, supported by a DJ and more of McCool’s trademark comedy between sets. Guests can also enjoy street food, and drinks.
Happy 25th birthday to Vivad!
