Graphic media supplier Orafol hand-picked two of its niche product ranges to present at PacPrint: the Oralite Eco Traffic road signage printer and adhesive tape range (including reflectives) and its Flexo plate mounting tape.
The ORALITE ECO Traffic Printer is a dedicated solution for producing temporary & permanent signage for road safety & construction site (safety) applications
Germany - headquartered ORAFOL, headed up locally and throughout Asia-Pacific by Alex McClelland, is not normally noted for its print hardware, preferring to stick with its broad range of graphic films, solar control, reflective media and advanced adhesive tapes.
However, there is one area that demands a special printer to match the performance of Orafol’s Oralite reflective media and it was there at PacPrint – along with some stunning examples of reflective road signage,
This is the ORALITE ECO Traffic Printer; a dedicated solution for producing both temporary and permanent signage for road safety and construction site (safety) applications. It also has applications for image-based traffic signs and a wide range of other graphic applications requiring day/night conspicuity, such as emergency services vehicles. It enables the production of traffic signs in accordance with the most common national and international standards (e.g. EN12899-1:2007 or ASTM D4956-19), with long service life.
Developed together with Roland DG, the Oralite Eco Traffic Printer runs with special inks that have sufficient translucency for the reflective prismatic media to do its job, but enough daylight visibility to convey the important wayfinding and safety messages when headlights and street lights are not switched on.
Key features include:
- Reliability: a dependable solution for the production of certified road and safety signage, backed by Roland DG’s renowned quality build.
- Environmentally friendly: In addition to its resource efficiency, which results from reduced maintenance and service requirements compared to alternative systems, both the reflective media and inks meet stringent sustainability criteria..
- User-friendly: The integrated LCD display provides an intuitive interface that further enhances the printer’s ease of use (Orafol Australia’s expert team always on hand as back-up and for training of operators).
- Service: This printing system, combined with Orafol’s service support, offers outstanding quality and consistent reliability and takes responsibility for the whole printer-software-media-ink combination.
A new face for Orafol tapes
Adhesive tapes were also a focus of Orafol’s display, presented by the recently-appointed Business Manager for Advanced Tape Systems, Rhonda McAllister, who joined Orafol Australia in January after a 25-year career in adhesive systems and tapes.
Adhesive tapes may not be the most glamourous sector of our industry but are nonetheless essential and perform many critical functions. Orafol offers a truly comprehensive range of technical adhesive tapes including transfer tapes, double sided tapes, foam tapes and splicing tapes. Orafol's adhesive tape systems are available in a wide selection of constructions with different types of high-performance adhesives. They guarantee excellent functionality and adhesion on a large variety of surfaces and thus meet the most diverse customer requirements.
Of interest to Flexographic printers is the Oraflex cushion plate-mounting tapes. Photopolymer plates require safe mounting onto cylinders, varying degrees of ‘cushionability’ and the need for re-positioning. They also need to be resistant to the solvents used in flexography. Like all Orafol adhesive products, the multi-layer engineering of Oraflex tapes is top-notch.
