Trent Parke will be talking about his digital reproduction experiences, specifically using the HP Designjet Z Series machines.

Trent Parke has been a Sydney-based photojournalist for over a decade, working as a sports photographer for News Ltd for eight years, and is a founding member of the Oculi Photo Agency. He has won five ‘Gold Lenses’ from the International Olympic Committee and many other prizes, including World Press Photo Awards in 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2005, and the Canon Photo Essay Prize in the 2000 Sasakawa World Sports Awards. He was selected to be part of the World Press Photo Masterclass in 1999. Today, Trent is the only Australian photographer to be represented by Magnum and has one of the most vivid visual signatures in Australian photojournalism.

With a collections and exhibitions list to die for, Trent is a master of the print medium and will talk about his latest work and his experience with HP's printers that use Vivera Pigment inks

In 2003 Parke drove almost 90,000 kilometres around Australia. Minutes to Midnight, the collection of photographs from this journey, offers a sometimes disturbing portrait of 21st-century Australia, from the desiccated outback to the chaotic, melancholic vitality of life in remote Aboriginal towns. His searching black-and-white images seek to define an Australia “whose fate”, he says, “hangs in the balance... the country thirsts from the worst drought in recent history and firestorms blaze across the land. The majority of the population says the country is fast losing its innocence”. His deeply subjective photographs address social equations in ways that often produce visually surprising results. For this project, Parke was awarded the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography.

Parke self-published his first two books: Dream/Life in 1999 with Narelle Autio, and The Seventh Wave in 2000. Both publications were in the top two awards for a book at the ‘Picture of the Year International’ in the United States. His work has been exhibited widely including recent solo shows in New York and Germany.
