Body of Work - a division of North Sydney design & print agency Armstrong - has won two wide format awards at this week’s Printing United Expo in Las Vegas for its "breathtaking" 3D wall mural project titled Explosive – printed on a Roland DG IU-1000F flatbed UV printer.

explo tvExplosive won the 2022 Premier Print Award for Printed Product of the Year - Wide Format Inkjet Printing – as well as the Best of Category award for Poster/Fine Art - Wide Format Inkjet Printing.

“This piece has excellent fine lines in the hair, overall texture, and the use of the gold is impressive,” said the judges for the Printed Product of the Year award.  “We are impressed with the realistic features like the well-defined beads, the coins and the flesh tones in the body. There is eye catching contrast and sharpness in this piece. Very good edge definition against a flawless black background.”

Body of Work is a division of photography, video and website design agency Armstrong Studio, established by photographer Bob Armstrong.

In its entry description, Body of Work said:

This 3d Mural features a system that is unique to Body of Work. It is so intricate it takes a week to print and requires perfect registration of clear images and final image. As it is insured for $A25,000, we would like it returned after use."

The Premier Print Awards represent all areas of print production, including screen, offset, digital, wide-format, flexographic, gravure, and more. This year’s competition recognized the projects of sign and display shops, commercial printers, package printers/converters, in-plants, trade binderies/finishers, graphic designers, and students with just 10 winners selected in wide-format categories.
