Large format print technology manufacturer Durst reopened production facilities in Italy and Austria on Monday after shutting down last month because of the coronavirus. Staff will be required to wear masks and protective suits.
Durst will resume production at its facility in Lienz, Austria and will partially reopen production at its headquarters in Brixen, Italy on Monday, the company said in a statement.
“I will be there to make sure you are safe," Durst CEO Christoph Gamper told Brixen staff members In a video message (above). “We do this to help our customers in packaging and labels."
The move to partially reopen production in Brixen comes as Italy registered 525 new coronavirus deaths on Sunday, the lowest daily rate since March 19, bringing the total number of deaths in Italy to 15,887.
Durst’s R&D and manufacturing facilities were closed about three weeks ago after an employee in Brixen tested positive for Covid-19. “Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, we will continue to work as a well-coordinated, globally active team,” Gamper said at the time. “All Durst branches are active - with the restrictions that apply in the respective countries. Wherever possible, we work from our home office."
Durst Oceania opened last year at Tullamarine in Melbourne, VIC.
