Canon USA’s new eService cost-per-use program allows remote monitoring of customer usage and service-related data from imagePROGRAF, PRO Series, TX Series, TM Series and legacy printers. It's a US-only initiative so far. A spokesperson for Canon Australia told Wide Format Online: "We are investigating but not sure at this stage when we will introduce this here."

“Offering its authorized channel partners a free, user-friendly service that enhances the ability to deliver a Managed Print Service (MPS) solution for its large format printers, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is excited to announce its new eService cost-per-use program,” the company said in a statement.

“With this new offering, customers may no longer have to purchase a printer upfront, or manually order supplies or services. Instead, by utilizing eService, customers can pay on a print-per-use basis, allowing them to concentrate more on managing their business as any consumable or service will be provided on an as needed basis.

A spokesperson for Canon Australia told WFOL: “For now, there is no concrete plan to replicate what the US are doing. We are investigating but not sure at this stage when we will introduce this here. A lot of behind the scene work would be required to make this happen.”

Canon's US print-per-use customers also receive full-term service and support, including routine maintenance where available, so they no longer need to worry about checking if there is enough ink or paper.

Canon service authorized partners who use eService can remotely view consumable usage levels, as well as the service status and history of a customer's printer, by gaining access to a dashboard. The new eService can also automatically notify print providers in cases when customers require consumables, or when an imagePROGRAF printer requires attention. These additional services are designed to deliver quicker response times for service-based needs as they help to eliminate downtime, increase customer satisfaction and streamline productivity for users.

"Fulfilling the needs of our customers is our first priority, and with the eService Software, we are able to do that and more," says Bart Jordan of Dorado Graphix. "eService efficiently delivers the information we need to help our customers be more successful and efficient, which in turn, allows them to concentrate more on running their business."

The new eService software is now available to Canon imagePROGRAF authorized service providers in the US.
