Melbourne-based national wide format consumables and hardware supplier, Total Image Supplies, has just stocked its warehouse with some great new creative media from quality Swiss/German manufacturer Sihl.

One surprising fact about Sihl is that its origins date back to Zürich, over 500 years ago in 1471, with the first reference being "the old paper mill on the Island in the River Sihl." The modern history of Sihl began in 1935 and was boosted in 1990 when it merged with Renkers GmbH of Düren, Germany. Today, Sihl Group manufacturing takes place in both Bern, Switzerland and Düren. The CEO since May 2020 is Peter Wahsner who brings a wealth of experience in managing businesses in the specialty film, packaging and paper sectors.

The first new product, Sihl 3257 Poster X is unique in that it is a high quality 180gsm matte poster paper with a blocking layer, making it perfect for Point of Sale and other Sign Advertising applications. It is FSC certified, acid-free and can take high ink loading, free from rippling. Poster X is economical and comes in 841mm (for AO posters) and 914mm widths on 50 metre rolls with 3-inch core and is ideal for Aqueous and Latex printing.
The other newly arrived products from Sihl address the Fine Art, Photo and Home Décor sectors.
Sihl 3338 Creative Aquarella2 Paper 210gsm is a top quality, natural white paper that gives fine art and photography prints a painted illusion. The 210gsm surface is lightly textured, there are no optical brighteners added and it is also FSC certified and acid-free. Available in 610mm, 914mm and 1118mm widths on 15 metre rolls and is ideal for Fine Art and Photographic reproductions using Aqueous or Latex printing.
A new heavier, cotton-based media is Sihl 3315 Creative Smooth Cotton Paper in 320gsm weight. This is a premium quality smooth matt cotton paper, ideal where long lasting fine art and photography prints are called for, thanks to its FograCert 28801 acid-free and ageing resistance in accordance with ISO 9706. This stock comes in 610mm, 1118mm and 1524mm widths on 15 metre rolls and is also moisture and water-resistant, and quick-drying.

A lightly textured version is also available in SIHL 3317 Creative Textured ‘Cotton Rag’ Paper, a 320gsm top quality cotton paper highly suited to fine art and photographic prints. This stock offers excellent colour reproduction, high maximum densities and excellent contrast with smooth gradations, broad tonal range and best shading differentiation. It is available in 610mm and 1118mm widths on 15 metre rolls.
