Canon Australia has announced that Gavin Gomes has been appointed Director, Canon Business Services – leading the B2B function of Canon, Canon Business Services, which includes their Business Services, Production Printing, Canon Finance Australia and he will also become a director of Harbour IT.

Resuming his tenure at Canon on Monday 4th July, Gomes will be working with channel partners and customers – driving the business through a period of transition, to address the rapidly changing demands of the business market.
Gavin GomesGomes was attracted to Canon as a global leader, having held several senior executive leadership roles over the last 20 years with global blue chip companies including Australia Post Group, IBM, Procter & Gamble and Telstra. Driven by a deep passion for the customer, Gavin has built highly successful and engaged teams throughout Australia and Asia.
“I’m looking forward to leading an integrated team in Canon Australia’s business services at this exciting time. I am interested to find ways we can work with our channel partners to help streamline our customer’s business processes,” said Gomes.
Canon Business Services delivers a range of solutions in the B2B space including office and professional print, managed services as well as a range of solutions and services enabling digital transformation, all underpinned by Canon technology.
In 2013 Canon undertook a business review which highlighted that to meet the future needs of our customers in Australia, Canon’s business model needed to adapt. Canon recognised that it needed to diversify and increase the services it offered.
To achieve this goal Canon has made four strategic acquisitions, Océ Australia to expand high-end professional printing capability, SUNSTUDIOS to expand the offering to professional photographers, Harbour IT to offer solutions in the Cloud and IT managed services and then most recently Converga, expanding Canon’s BPO capability.
Gomes aims to strengthen Canon’s technology and end-to-end managed services customer proposition for businesses in Australia.
Managing Director of Canon Oceania, Yusuke Mizoguchi, is pleased to have Gomes on board.
“I’m delighted to welcome Gavin to our team who brings a breadth of knowledge and experience in the B2B arena. A highly competent leader of sales and marketing teams, I am confident he will be an asset to our team and contribute to the dynamic culture of our organisation. We will continue to invest in diversifying our solutions and partnerships to place our customer’s needs at the forefront of our business”.
Gavin holds a Masters of Commerce in Marketing and Finance from the University of NSW and a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics & Finance.  Gavin possesses a diverse professional network and is a member of the Australian Institute of Management, Institute of International Affairs and Australian Institute of Bankers.
David Klineberg, Interim Director, Canon Business Services has been responsible for successfully leading Canon Business Services’ since Craig Mason’s departure in December, following his previous role leading Canon Specialised Imaging division.
Klineberg will move across to Canon’s wholly owned subsidiary Converga into an expanded role as Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is the same structural approach that they implemented in other Group Company, Harbour IT.
