New research conducted by InfoTrends and produced by the International Sign Association reveals the importance of digital printing in the wide format market. The research was sponsored by 3M.

Highlights from the research show:

  1.     Wide format digital print is already responsible for almost 60% of signage and graphics production, and is expected to grow to 65% within two years;
  2.     Banners (83%), Signs (81%), and Decals (72%) are the top wide-format digital print applications among sign shops;
  3.     Over the next two years, dye sublimation is expected to grow faster than any other production method; and
  4.     Nearly two-thirds of shops expect to spend more on print media in the next 12 months, which indicates their belief that their sign businesses will grow.

Research also shows that durability, print quality and price are the top wide format digital print media brand selection criteria. Print media manufacturers play a key role in signage and graphics providers’ business too; providers rely on innovation from manufacturers to enable new applications that drive business growth.

The research is available on the ISA website. The two-part study is available free to ISA members. Non-members may purchase copies for $24.95 per part.
