For those of us who rely heavily on the pull-up poster banners seen at every trade show and every one-person speaker presentation, SAS (Signage Accessories Suppliers) showcased an innovative new opportunity in that space at PacPrint with its 'portable' digital LED equivalent.

SAS LED panelsWe pulled one LED panel of the 4-panel display forward slightly to show the modular/portable size of each panel - about the same dimensions as a standard 'pull-up.'

As the image here shows, the LED system enables the colours to pop, also allowing motion, even video files to be run, instead of a static sign or message. Nor are they out-priced as an alternative, when you consider that every use of the LED banners can carry a different message/image/content which would demand several versions of the static option.SAS Patrick BalaSAS BDM Patrick Bala

Perhaps the only downside is that they need a plug to play and, given that these are effectively still portable LED screens, they re not quite as easy to lug around as the tried and tested printed banner that can be easily stowed in the upper cabin on your flight to the next State in your roadshow.

New SAS BDM, Patrick Bala, himself something of an industry veteran with long stints at Amari and Graphic Art Mart to his name, notes: “We supply these LED banners absolutely ready to go, with an HDMI cable and a WiFi number that you just punch in your supplied password for and you can play any digital file you want through the accompanying app on your phone.”

“This gives you the flexibility to make multiple changes on the fly and even remotely, so we’re confident there is a huge market for these banners and they are opening up a whole range of new opportunities for SAS.”

SAS Liz Seidl Liz Seidl enjoyed a busy PacPrint managing traffic on the SAS standCurrently available in two primary sizes – 640mm x 1920mm or 960mm x 1920mm, the panels can be free-standing or wall-mounted. “There are sealed outdoor versions too, which we’re targeting for the big supermarkets and for shop awnings as a great, affordable alternative for their current LED signage,” adds Bala.

“I could take your photo now and put it up on that sign within 10 seconds. Or you could give me a USB to plug in and play. Or you can plug speakers into the banner and we can even sit here and watch Netflix on it: that’s how versatile these banners are.”

In business for over two decades, SAS has steadily travelled through the various changes and advances in the signage application market, navigating the increasing scrutiny on fire rating and compliance. Bala says: “Aluminium composite panels are still our primary business and we are able to offer customers a wide choice of substrates and colours.”

Our Head Office is in Melbourne, but we operate nationally and have a footprint in Sydney, Queensland and WA.”

“But these new LED signs are obviously where the future is at and we’ve seen some real excitement already on the stand at PacPrint when people see them for the first time.”
