I have a Roland XJ640 and had nothing but issues the last 6 months, it will be 5 years old in November this year.
So far we have replaced 2 heads, the encoder strip twice, optical sensor, heater control board and still getting internal error 0006 and 00000007 randomly throughout printing.
All ribbon cables have been reseated, the only thing left to do is change the main boards and being a costly exercise, I dont really want to go down that path.
My SC540EX never missed a beat and still runs to this day which would be 9 years old by now.
So my question is, if I am looking for a replacement printer, would you choose another Roland or run with other mainstream brands?
Im leaning towards Mimaki at the moment but thought I would ask what others are running.
