For the past ten years the traditional signman and art bloke John Rigby has managed several sign companies in Sydney and Queensland, managed an aboriginal corporation art studio in the Northern Territory, worked as a trainer and assessor for signwriting, and worked in the construction industry as a qualified coatings inspector as well as a work place health and safety officer.
In spite of such a hectic workload John Rigby has continued his talents as an artist and traditional signwriter with yearly exhibitions as well as pin striping and traditional sign gigs for hot rods and discerning customers requiring hand crafted signwork.
He moved to Eden, Towamba actually, on the far south coast of N.S.W. and has recently opened The Barbed Wire Studio on forty acres in the beautiful Towamba Valley. The studio specialises in art retreats and the sharing of art techniques and traditional signcraft for small groups of people over two and four day workshops; the first workshop is on the 26th, 27th, 28th,29th May 2016.
