Printing Industries has launched a new cost effective, efficient letterbox marketing service as part of its commitment to help members offer services that support local businesses to engage with their customers in an increasingly multi-channel world.

Letterbox Marketing Plus will provide preferential pricing and access to PMP Distribution’s 14,000+ local walkers in over 30,000 neighbourhoods around the country as well as sales and marketing training support.
Printing Industries CEO Bill Healey said the Association’s partnership with PMP Distribution meant members could take advantage of the growth opportunity letterbox marketing provided across the country.
“Catalogues, flyers and leaflets are experiencing strong performance in retail markets and have a proven track record of effectiveness that local businesses can use as the major stores do,” he said.
“Every suburb has businesses that can create better awareness of their services by using targeted marketing via the design, print and now distribution capabilities that their local Printing Industries member can provide for them.”
Mr Healey said the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) figures put the number of operating small business in Australia at over two million.
“We already know that local businesses on average spend around $15,000 each year marketing themselves, so this presents a huge opportunity for printers to tap into a ready income stream,” he said.
“The reduced rate for members is lower than postal and other unaddressed mail services, so there is scope for good margins on distribution in addition to their own print and design services.
“Our services provide printing companies with access to online quotation, mapping and district profiling tools for maximum coverage or for distribution segmentation around 13 different profile groups and 50 types of persons in postcode areas. Profiles include household size, age, sex, education level, family size, cultural background and income.
Mr Healey said Printing Industries can also provide data support on the success of unaddressed mail to help the printer to sell their print and distribution capability.”
He said said training support is available for companies seeking structured sales and marketing skills into the wider marketing services area via the Future Print business advisors network.
“Every community has its share of businesses including restaurants, general retail stores, real estate firms, hairdressers, sports groups, local government and tradies who can benefit from using letterbox marketing.
“Now our members have the resources and support from Printing Industries to help them take advantage of this, boost their print volumes and increase their profitability.
“Ultimately we hope that this is the first step in enabling members to become a one-stop shop marketing provider by offering a broad range of services such as social media and website management to complement their traditional print offering,” Mr Healey said.
